Photo Tagging System with Nested Tags

Summary

Add a tagging system that allows users to assign multiple tags to photos and videos, enabling a single item to be associated with multiple categories. Additionally, support nested/hierarchical tags for advanced organization.

User Report

A user finds the current single-album-per-photo structure limiting and would like the ability to tag media so that items can appear under multiple organizational categories without duplication.

Current Behavior

Photos and videos can only belong to one album at a time, requiring users to choose a single category for each item.

Requested Behavior

Core Tagging

• Allow users to create custom tags

• Enable assigning multiple tags to any photo or video

• Provide a way to browse/filter media by tag

• A single photo could then logically belong to multiple groupings (e.g., "Family," "Vacation," "2024") without needing to duplicate the file

Tag Nesting (Advanced)

• Support hierarchical tag structures (e.g., "Travel > Europe > France")

• Keep this feature unobtrusive for users who prefer simple organization

• Allow power users to create detailed taxonomy systems for their media
